About: Bikes4Marines and Navy

The next in line would have to be Hacienda Mobil Home Park who is made up largely of senior citizens on fixed incomes.  They have seen the worth in this effort and dug down deep into their pockets to the tune of giving 30-40 bikes & helmets to say thank you to these young families that make up the Marine Corps and Navy.

I could go on and on, the plumber whom we had never met, whose father was in the Corps during the ’50’s who came by one evening and dropped off a check for $500 to honor his dad’s memory and time in the Marine Corps.

I will close by mentioning a few children who stand out in my mind, Sara with an (H) as she said, who told everyone at our table how much she wanted a bike and jumped for joy when presented with one.  Look for her, she’s wearing a red dress and her blond hair is in a pony tail.  She had a brother and sister, but the parents said even though their bikes were old they listed only Sara for a new one as to give other kids a chance.

The little boy named Wilson, with Red Hair, who witnessed his grandfather saving his change and decided all on his own to give his piggy bank, $10 and some change.

The brother and sister who for some reason or another their names weren’t on the list,  & wonders of wonders we had two bikes left over.  All of our hearts were touched that night, as they stood with their faces wanting and were completely shocked when they each received one.

And the little girl who’s daddy did not make it home in time for Christmas last year who was stationed in Afghanistan.  He planned  to be home but couldn’t make it happen.   We felt that it warranted special circumstances, and we made a special delivery trip down to Oceanside the Friday before Christmas to deliver her a Christmas Bike.
